ABOUT US

Miguel Attie Filho

I was born in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. My grandparents came from Syria at the beginning of the 20th century, my father was a merchant and my mother was a seamstress. My most archaic memories are accompanied by books and people who encouraged me to decipher them. My first degree was in philosophy and a degree in history and, later, in psychology. I developed a deep love for books over time, perhaps because they record what I considered the most precious possession in this life, which is the search for wisdom. The paths of study led me to research at master's, doctorate and post-doctoral levels on the thought of Avicenna who, due to his plural training as a physician and philosopher, always proved to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Over time, I also started to direct study groups, teach courses and guide research in the areas of philosophy and history of thought. I really hope that my initiative in writing books and creating this website motivates people to embark on the endless paths of thought.

Ideas that accompany me as I create this website

Every Human Being is a Thinker
A Courage
to Think
A Love
for Wisdom

WHY PHILOSOPHIZE?

My main purpose is to bring philosophy closer to people. There are many philosophies just as there are many wines. The best wine, the best philosophy? Well, whatever makes sense to you, at least for a certain time in a certain space. So let's think.

DIFFICULT SUBJECTS?

Nothing in life is easy, and that's a common lesson we learn from an early age. Thinking about it, then, can become difficult. That's why it's worth reading what others have thought about life, about the world, about themselves, the universe and the stars.

It's a good start.

PHILOSOPHIZING WITH

Truly embarking on the paths of philosophy means being accompanied in such a way by thinkers from the past and present that, when we philosophize, we never feel alone. Many of our true companions live in books.

They are always worth visiting.
